The Cake Stop is a popular hang out in Beaconsfield, with both the locals and people travelling just to visit, for their selection of Cakes, Sweet Treats, French Macaroons, Cake
Supplies and more.
Melissa, is the owner and manager – a talented pastry chef – with trusty mum Joanne working as her off-sider for the last 3 years. Since beginning her pastry chef training when she was sixteen, Melissa’s sights have been firmly set on owning her own shop. Now, almost 10 years later, Melissa is keen to continue introducing exciting new products and grow the business, with her love for baking and cake decorating the driving passion.
Located next to the Beaconsfield Hub, the Cake Stop has great seating both inside and out, with alfresco seating in warmer months to enjoy your barista-made coffee which includes a selection of milks including soy and almond using the Lab Milk Brand, and a Tea Tonic-branded selection of tea flavours and yummy treats.
Before Covid-19 Melissa was looking to expand due to always being booked out with orders, but this all changed in an instant and they took a big hit, with venues closing down and people going into lockdown – orders were cancelled and vanished almost overnight. Now, however, as we approach “wedding season”, with Christmas just around the corner, and with lockdown restrictions being eased, their bookings are filling fast, so it’s a wise idea to order your special occasion cakes as early as possible to avoid disappointment.
While there are many cake-oriented businesses throughout Cardinia Shire – way too many to mention all of them – and each has their own speciality, many also frequent our store, and we often recommend other businesses. Neither Melissa nor Joanne see anyone as competitors – they prefer to think everyone can work together and help each other out, because it’s all about building the fantastic community they are a part of. Both Melissa and Joanne are strong supporters of community, and regularly become involved in community activities and events. One of their most recent activities was the exchange of Pet Rocks for Cupcakes for kids, during lockdown.
At the Cake Stop, they have the ability to help our customers in other ways, including with their own baking aspirations, tips and tricks of the trade, to help create the wow factor cake for their
special occasion as well as great taste; they love seeing the big smiles when cakes are collected or delivered, and this makes the many hours of work Melissa puts into each creation well worth it.
