March 2020 Writing Competition

Holy moly it’s March

Tracy Dasler - February Photo Comp Winning Entry
What fabulous months for photographs January and February were! (You can view all of the entries on Facebook for January here and February here) Thanks to all who entered, all who voted, and congratulations to the winners!
As noted back in January, this year we’re doing things a little differently, so for March, instead of photographs, we’re looking for writing! Now, I know we have a great many aspiring authors and poets in the Shire – I’ve seen your writing, so there’s no hiding 😉

And, to make it as easy as possible, here’s the guidelines for March’s first Guide to Cardinia Writing Competition:

  1. The writing can be of any type – poetry, short essay, fiction, non-fiction, whatever… it’s up to you
  2. There is no maximujm or minimum word limit (but I would suggest making it no more than 300 words)
  3. The author should “Like” the Facebook page (nothing new there)
  4. It runs from the 9th of the March to Sunday, the 29th of March at 5:00 pm..
  5. Writing must be posted (or messaged) to the A Guide to Cardinia Facebook page and tagged “March Writing Competition”.
  6. How to vote will be posted on Monday, January 27th at 5:00 pm and will run until Friday, 31st January at 5:00 pm.
  7. The theme for January was Growth, and for February was Unity. The writing should reference in some way either of these themes, OR both of these themes, OR Cardinia Shire.
  8. The writing does not have to have been composed in the same month as the competition it is entered in – but each piece can only be entered once.
  9. A selection of entries from the year, including all of the winners, will be combined into a Calendar for 2021, which will be for sale, with all proceeds going to Cardinia Shire CFA Brigades and SES units (and entrants may choose to opt out of this).
That’s all there is to it! Can’t wait to see what you have to say 🙂
