The club of over 300 members requires the services of an experienced greenkeeper to work with our team of volunteers in maintaining the playability and appearance of one of Gippsland’s top golf courses. Set on rolling terrain, the course has a full complement of impressive couch fairways, modern machinery and a Rainbird IC irrigation system covering all greens installed in 2020.

Trafalgar has a growing population of 4,500 located 125km east of Melbourne with great educational and recreational facilities in the region.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated person who can work independently and lead a dedicated team of club volunteers. Please note, the position will commence early October 2021.

Duties include:
– Demonstrate safety leadership in supervising all course activities conducted by volunteers and contractors.
– Maintenance of all turf areas on the course to a high standard, inclusive of greens, tees, surrounds, bunkers, fairways, roughs and out of play areas.
– Leading a volunteer workforce and specialised contractors in golf course maintenance activities.
– Train, motivate and supervise the volunteers/staff/contractors in a capable manner.
– Work with the Board to help promote player satisfaction through maintaining a quality Golf Course and Maintenance program.
– Management responsibility for all course maintenance and operating budgets.
– Works with the Board to constantly improve the golf course, club grounds, maintenance facility and all safety programs.
– Carry out turf renovation, including scarifying, coring, dethatching and sanding as required.
– Safely apply pesticides and fertilisers in a timely manner when required.
– Develop and present annual Turf Maintenance Plan to Board and Members.
– Continue personal and professional education through attending self-development, training and turf conferences.

Experience and Requirements:
– Certificate IV in Sports Turf Management or higher (highly desirable)
– Experience in all aspects of Golf Course maintenance, including knowledge of chemical and fertiliser application (accreditation essential)
– Be competent with wide range of turf machinery and irrigation systems.
– Industry Accreditation as a Certified Sports Turf Manager (highly desirable)
– Completed a White Card/Construction Induction course (highly desirable)
– Customer centred approach, with ability to liaise with a wide variety of stakeholders.
– Ability to prioritise work tasks and manage time and budgets effectively.
– Sound computer literacy, written and verbal communication.
– Perform rostered weekend and overtime work throughout the year.
– Current drivers’ licence and Level 2 first aid certification.
– Be willing to undergo, and pass a National Police Check and Working with Children’s Check (WWCC)

– Above award wage: $65,000 – $75,000 (negotiable on qualification and experience) excluding 10% super.
